MEET YOUR THERAPIST

Andrea Caro

I know how hard it can be to ask for help and to find a therapist that understands your values and personality. I offer a safe space and work to establish collaborative, trusting, and respectful relationships with clients. In my experience, this is essential to develop insight into your life and the skills to heal.

Our work together will center on gaining a deep understanding of who you truly are—your values, experiences, and aspirations. We will identify and overcome obstacles, develop new skills, and create a clear path toward achieving your goals. My integrative approach to therapy emphasizes personalized strategies, effective solutions, and lasting change.

I have advanced training in EMDR and DBT, along with specialties in bilingual therapy and cultural competence.

Reasons Clients Come to See Me

Personalized Approach

I work to understand your unique life experiences, values, and personality traits in order to create a personalized approach tailored specifically for you - focusing on fostering meaningful, lasting change within a safe and supportive environment.

Cultural Competence

Having navigated my own journey as an immigrant, I bring personal insight into the complexities of intercultural relationships and experiences, family dynamics, and life transitions.

Experienced Professional

I have advanced training in EMDR and DBT for those that have experienced trauma, and a Masters degree in Counseling, along with specialties in bilingual therapy (Spanish & English). I value mindfulness and the process of living a life story based on our strengths and values.

Bilingual Therapist

I offer therapy in both English and Spanish, supporting Latinx individuals, couples, and others working through personal challenges related to self-worth, identity, relationships, life changes, grief, and career decisions.

My Services

Building the initial therapeutic relationship is a key component for achieving your objectives in therapy.  Because of this, I initially meet with new clients weekly, so we can develop trust, and session frequency can be adjusted over time as needed.

Therapy Sessions

I work with adults in MN heal from anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, and relationships, as well as helping individuals in increasing their self-esteem, managing life transitions successfully, and having more fulfilling relationships.

During an initial assessment we will discuss your goals for therapy, current stressors and any concerns you may have. Then overtime, I will provide insight, tools, and support to make the changes you are looking for.

Assessment $220 for 60 minutes
Follow up sessions $160 for 45 minutes

Better Sleep

I use CBT-I in order to help you improve your sleep. It is an evidence-based methodology that can be more effective than medication in the long run.  I offer a personalized approach for identifying and overcoming the three types of insomnia: getting to sleep, staying sleep, and broken sleep.

I help new Americans (first and second-generations) successfully adjust to life in a new country while ensuring you stay connected to and embrace your unique cultural heritage.

I also assist intercultural couples in navigating the complexities of your diverse backgrounds, fostering understanding between partners, and ultimately creating a strong, healthy, and thriving relationship.

Frequently Asked Questions

    • For therapy sessions, I am licensed to work in MN.  This means you  need to be physically located in MN at the time of our therapy session.

    • For coaching sessions, I can work with you wherever you are.

    • My therapy and coaching sessions are in English or Spanish.

  • It all depends on your goals for therapy.  The initial assessment is 60  minutes and follow-up sessions are 45 minutes.  We will meet weekly at the beginning. This may be adjusted as appropriate.  I will work with you to find a time that works with your schedule.

    • You will get a self-help book or a mindfulness app, and follow the advice. I will provide you with coping skills/exercises because you need to be ready for deep work and present in our sessions.

    • The hard work is sitting with your emotions, listening to your body, and challenging yourself.

    • We live with others, so we will consider the outside forces, opinions, and expectations holding you back.

  • I currently only offer telehealth - meaning that our sessions will be online using your computer, tablet, or smartphone.

  • During our consultation we will determine if we are a good fit and can work together. We will talk about what you are hoping to gain from therapy. I will also answer any questions you might have about therapy, insurance, etc. At the end of the consultation, you will decide if you would like to schedule the first session.

  • During the first few sessions we will explore your goals for therapy, current stressors, and any concerns you may have.

We will talk about where your issues may be coming from and factors that have contributed to maintaining them in your life.

While talking about your life may be difficult, I try to make this as easy as possible by asking curious questions and reflecting back to make sure I am understanding you correctly.

  • Payments are accepted via major credit cards, including HSA and flex spending accounts. Under the No Surprises Act, clients have the right to receive a “good faith estimate” of expected charges so you know how much your treatment will cost.

  • No, I do not.I am considered an “out-of-network provider” and do not accept insurance. Many insurance companies cover out-of-network providers and will reimburse between 60-80% of session costs. If your plan covers out-of-network providers, you would issue payment to me at the time of service and then submit a receipt to your insurance for reimbursement. I will provide you with a monthly itemized receipt, known as a “superbill,” for you to submit to your insurance provider.

I strongly believe that if we are seen, respected, and honored, we are capable of overcoming the difficulties that life presents.
